Italy’s HICP Inflation Eases Slightly in February to 0.5% MoM

Italy’s Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) rose by 0.5% month-on-month in February 2026, easing slightly from the previous 0.6% increase recorded in the prior month. The latest reading, updated on 17 March 2026, indicates a modest deceleration in price growth on a month-over-month basis.

The February figure shows that while consumer prices in Italy continue to climb, the pace of increase has edged down compared with the previous month’s 0.6% rise. Both the current and previous indicators refer to month-on-month changes, comparing each month’s price level with that of the immediately preceding month. This subtle slowdown may signal a tentative cooling in short-term inflationary pressures within the Italian economy.
