Argentina GDP Expands Less Than Expected in Q4

Argentina’s economy expanded by 2.1% year-on-year in the December quarter of 2025, slightly below market expectations of 2.2% and easing from 3.3% growth in the previous quarter. The loss of momentum reflected renewed weakness in several key sectors: manufacturing output remained in contraction (-2.2% vs. -2.4% in Q3), and wholesale and retail trade posted a sharp decline (-5.0% vs. +0.6%).

By contrast, some sectors continued to support overall growth. Agricultural activity surged (16.1% vs. 0.8%) as the post-drought recovery strengthened, although utilities stayed in negative territory (-0.7% vs. -0.8%). Transportation and communications growth edged higher (2.2% vs. 1.8%), and financial intermediation recorded robust, albeit slower, gains (17.2% vs. 28.4%).

On a quarter-on-quarter basis, Argentina’s GDP rose 0.6%, following a 0.3% increase in the previous period.
