FX.co ★ Baltic Dry Index at Near 1-Week Low

The Baltic Exchange’s dry bulk index, which measures freight rates for vessels transporting dry commodities, declined for a second consecutive session on Monday, slipping 0.9% to a near one-week low of 2,037 points. The capesize index, reflecting rates for larger vessels that typically transport 150,000-ton cargoes such as iron ore and coal, fell 1.1% to 2,937 points. The panamax index, which tracks ships that generally carry 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, decreased 0.8% to 1,888 points. Among the smaller vessel segments, the supramax index edged down 6 points, or 0.5%, to 1,218 points.
