Lithuania Retail Sales Growth Slows in February

Retail sales in Lithuania increased by 2.6% year-on-year in February 2026, down from a 9.3% jump in January, which had marked the strongest expansion since February 2022. Growth slowed across most major categories, including automotive fuels (5.4% vs 19.3% in January), retail trade excluding motor vehicles, motorcycles and fuel (1.9% vs 7%), food, beverages and tobacco (0.5% vs 2.8%), non-food products (3% vs 10.2%), and mail order and internet sales (16.4% vs 24.2%).

At the same time, sales in specialised stores selling audio and video equipment, hardware, furniture and lighting declined (-8.7% vs a 1.4% increase previously), while the contraction in sales of information and communication equipment, cultural and recreational goods, watches and jewellery, and other new goods moderated (-1.1% vs -1.8%). In contrast, sales in non-specialised stores rose sharply, accelerating to 18.1% from 1.7% in January. On a monthly basis, retail sales fell by 2.5% in February, offsetting the 0.5% increase recorded in the previous month.
