Portugal Retail Sales Rise 4.9% YoY in February

Retail sales in Portugal rose 4.9% year-on-year in February 2026, accelerating from a downwardly revised 4.4% increase in January. Sales of food, beverages and tobacco grew 4.3%, matching January’s rate, while non-food sales advanced 5.3%, up from 4.4% previously. The non-food segment was driven by stronger growth in fuels (2.6% vs 0.6%) and in clothing and textiles (23.5% vs 8.8%). In contrast, growth slowed for household goods (1.5% vs 5.5%) and for pharmaceutical products and cosmetics (6.7% vs 7.4%), and sales declined for computers, telecommunication equipment and books (-2.8% vs 0.8%). On a monthly basis, retail sales increased 0.7% in February, following a 1.8% rise in January.
