French HICP Inflation Accelerates to 1.1% in March on Month

France’s Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) rose by 1.1% month-over-month in March 2026, marking a clear acceleration from the 0.7% increase recorded in February 2026, according to data updated on 31 March 2026.

The latest reading shows that price growth, as measured on a harmonised basis comparable across the euro area, strengthened in March after a more moderate uptick the month before. The February figure reflected a 0.7% month-on-month rise compared with January, while March’s 1.1% gain indicates that inflationary pressures have picked up over the most recent month.

The data underscore a faster pace of price increases on a month-over-month basis, based on the comparison of March to February and, previously, February to January. Investors and policymakers will be watching subsequent releases to assess whether this acceleration in French HICP marks the start of a sustained trend or a short-term fluctuation in price dynamics.
