US Crude Oil Inventories Surges More-Than-Expected

US crude oil inventories rose by 10.263 million barrels in the week ended March 27th, 2026 — the largest increase in many weeks — following a 2.3 million barrel build in the previous week and defying expectations of a 1.3 million barrel drawdown. Meanwhile, gasoline inventories fell by 3.209 million barrels, reversing a 500,000 barrel increase in the prior period. Distillate stockpiles, which include diesel and heating oil, declined by 1.04 million barrels after a 1.4 million barrel increase in the previous week.
