The Baltic Exchange’s dry bulk freight index, which tracks shipping rates for vessels transporting dry bulk commodities, ended a two-session decline on Wednesday, advancing 1.8% to 2,030 points amid broad-based gains across all vessel categories. The capesize index — covering ships that typically carry 150,000-ton cargoes such as iron ore and coal — also broke a two-day losing streak, jumping 2.6% to 3,023 points. The panamax index, reflecting vessels that usually transport 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, climbed 0.8% to 1,758 points. Among the smaller segments, the supramax index rose 0.6% to 1,209 points.
