Chile’s annual inflation rate quickened to 2.8% in March 2026, up from 2.4% in February. The most pronounced price increases were seen in restaurants and lodging (6.2%), education (6.1%), healthcare (5.0%), and food and non-alcoholic beverages (3.5%). Prices also rose for alcoholic beverages and tobacco (3.1%), utilities (2.9%), recreation and sports (1.8%), household equipment and maintenance (1.5%), transport (1.3%), and information and communication (1.3%). In contrast, deflation was recorded in clothing and footwear (−3.8%) and in financial services and insurance (−6.0%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices climbed 1.0% in March, following a 0.4% increase in February.
