Sweden Industrial Output Rises in February

Industrial production in Sweden increased by 7.0% year-on-year in February 2026, accelerating markedly from a downwardly revised 1.6% gain in January. The upswing was primarily driven by a strong rebound in mining output, which rose 6.2% following a 6.7% decline in the previous month. Within the mining sector, metal ore extraction rebounded sharply (8.5% vs. -2.6%), while other mining and quarrying activities also recovered (2.3% vs. -19.2%).

Manufacturing output also contributed significantly to the improvement, strengthening to a 7.0% increase in February from 2.0% in January, thereby providing additional support to overall industrial growth. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, total industrial production rose 5.1% in February, reversing a downwardly revised 6.5% contraction in January.
