Turkey Retail Sales Growth at 3-Month Low

Retail sales in Turkey rose 15.6% year-on-year in February 2026, easing from an upwardly revised 19.7% increase in January, which had been the strongest pace in nearly two years. This was the weakest annual expansion since November 2025, reflecting a broad-based moderation across categories.

Growth slowed in both food, beverages and tobacco (6.4% vs 9.8% in January) and non-food products (21.3% vs 27.6%). Within the non-food segment, sales decelerated notably for textiles, clothing, footwear and leather goods (7.8% vs 17%); dispensing chemists, medical and orthopaedic goods, cosmetics and toilet articles (10.5% vs 15.7%); and computers, peripheral units and software, and telecommunications equipment (33.2% vs 44.2%).

By contrast, sales of audio and video equipment; hardware, paints and glass; and electrical household appliances accelerated, rising 6.8% year-on-year compared with 2.8% in January.

On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, retail sales slipped 0.2% in February, reversing an upwardly revised 2.8% gain recorded in January.
