U.S. Refinery Crude Runs Decline Accelerates, EIA Data Show

U.S. refinery crude runs weakened further in the latest week, with the draw in throughput deepening, according to data released by the Energy Information Administration on 15 April 2026. The current week’s change in refinery crude runs stood at -0.208 million barrels, compared with -0.129 million barrels in the previous week, on a week-over-week basis.

The figures indicate that U.S. refiners have been cutting crude processing for a second consecutive week, with the pace of reduction increasing. The “actual” number reflects the change in refinery runs for the current week versus the prior week, while the “previous” figure captures the change recorded in the prior week compared with the week before that. The sharper contraction may signal ongoing adjustments in refinery operations amid evolving product demand and seasonal maintenance patterns.
