Mexico Jobless Rate Rises But Less than Forecast

Mexico’s unemployment rate edged up to 2.4% in March 2026, from 2.2% in the same month a year earlier, coming in just below market expectations of 2.5%. The number of unemployed people increased by 136,000 to 1.5 million, while employment grew by 422,000 to reach 60.2 million. As a result, the economically active population expanded by 558,000 to 61.6 million, pushing the labor force participation rate to 58.6%.
