French Unemployment Rises in March

France’s registered unemployment rose by 35,600 in March 2026 to 3.109 million, following a revised decline of 8,500 in February. This increase ends a four-month streak of falling unemployment and is driven primarily by the 25–49 age group, where the number of jobseekers climbed by 25,600 to 1.803 million. Among those aged 50 and over, unemployment increased by 7,000 to 805,000, while joblessness among under-25s rose by 3,000 to 502,000.
