DAX Closes at 2-Week Low

Frankfurt’s DAX 40 closed about 0.3% lower at 24,018 on Tuesday, its weakest level in two weeks, marking a seventh straight session of losses. Sentiment remained pressured by tensions in the Middle East, with investors also weighing corporate earnings ahead of key central bank decisions.

Concerns about the durability of the AI rally re-emerged after the Wall Street Journal reported that OpenAI had fallen short of its targets for new users and revenue.

On the corporate front, Qiagen NV sank nearly 11% after reporting weaker-than-expected first-quarter results and cutting its guidance for full-year 2026. Bayer slipped 4.5% as a US Supreme Court hearing on its Roundup weedkiller offered no clear indication on the company’s effort to avoid billions of dollars in cancer-related claims, keeping legal risks in focus for investors.

Other notable laggards included Siemens Energy, Zalando, and Henkel, down 2.4%, 2.2%, and 2.0%, respectively. By contrast, Merck and Commerzbank were among the session’s strongest performers, each advancing about 2.1%.
