Greece’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose to 9% in March 2026, up from an upwardly revised 8.6% in February, marking a nine-month high. The number of unemployed individuals increased by 19.1 thousand over the month, reaching 436.1 thousand. Unemployment remained significantly higher among women than men, at 11.5% versus 6.9%, respectively. At the same time, the number of people outside the labour force—those under 75 who are neither employed nor actively seeking work—fell by 26.9 thousand to 2,876.8 thousand. Employment edged up by 3.7 thousand, bringing the total number of employed persons to approximately 4,412.4 thousand.
