US Gas Storage Rises in Line With Expectations

US energy companies injected 79 billion cubic feet of natural gas into storage in the week ended April 24, roughly matching market expectations for an 80 bcf build. That compares with an injection of 105 bcf in the same week a year earlier and a five-year average increase of 63 bcf for the period.

Total inventories rose to 2.142 trillion cubic feet, putting them about 5.7% above last year’s level and 7.7% above the five-year seasonal average. In the prior week, ended April 17, storage levels had increased by 103 bcf.
