Czech Car Registrations Ease to 5.5% in April, Signaling Mild Cooldown in Auto Demand

Growth in new car registrations in the Czech Republic slowed in April 2026, suggesting a modest easing in demand after a stronger performance in the previous month.

According to the latest data updated on 27 May 2026, car registrations rose 5.50% year-over-year in April, down from a 6.00% year-over-year increase in March 2026. Both figures compare each month’s registrations to the same month a year earlier, highlighting a slight loss of momentum in the sector.

While the pace of expansion has moderated, the continued positive growth rate indicates that the Czech auto market remains on an upward trajectory, albeit at a slower clip than earlier in the spring. Investors and industry observers will now watch coming months’ data for signs of whether this is a temporary pause or the start of a more sustained cooling in car demand.
