Finland’s manufacturing confidence indicator inched up to 3 in May 2026 from an upwardly revised 2 in April, marking its highest reading since February. Expectations for production over the next three months improved notably, with the corresponding balance rising to 25 from 20. At the same time, assessments of order books weakened further, declining to -14 from -12, and views on finished goods inventories eased to 1 from 4. Spare capacity remained visible across the sector: only 62% of firms reported operating at full capacity in May, slightly below 64% in the previous month. In April, Finland’s manufacturing confidence stood above the EU average.
