US stocks finished at record highs on Thursday, with the S&P 500 up 0.6% and the Nasdaq Composite advancing 0.9%, while the Dow Jones added 0.1%. Reports of a deal between US and Iranian negotiators to extend the ceasefire and gradually restore energy flows from the Persian Gulf helped limit further gains in oil prices. At the same time, technology shares rallied, driven by Snowflake’s strong earnings outlook and a new AI compute agreement with Amazon. Snowflake’s stock surged 36%, its biggest one-day gain on record. The upbeat results lifted the broader software sector: ServiceNow climbed 6%, Palantir jumped more than 8%, and Oracle advanced over 6%. Microsoft, Palo Alto Networks, and Atlassian each rose at least 3%, while Salesforce slipped after issuing weaker guidance.
