Although the index gained 6 points over the month, it remains 21 points below its peak in January. The share of households reporting that now is a good time to purchase a major household item—a key indicator for retail demand—improved by 5 points to -20. Two-year inflation expectations eased to 5.6% from 6.6%, while expectations for house price growth fell by 0.7 percentage points to 2.6%.
