Greece Jobless Rate Eases in April

Greece’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate eased to 9.5% in April 2026, down from a revised 10.4% in March, reaching its lowest level since January. The number of unemployed people fell by 49.5 thousand over the month to 452.3 thousand, though this figure was still 26.6 thousand higher than a year earlier.

Unemployment remained markedly higher among women than men, standing at 13.7% for women compared with 5.9% for men.

The number of people outside the labour force — individuals under 75 who are neither employed nor actively looking for work — rose by 52 thousand from the previous month to 2,950 thousand, but was down by 57.1 thousand compared with a year earlier. At the same time, total employment declined by 9.9 thousand month-on-month to 4,523 thousand.
