Brent Slips as US-Iran Uncertainty Persists

Brent crude futures slipped toward $94 per barrel on Tuesday, paring some of the previous session’s gains as investors weighed ongoing uncertainty over US-Iran peace talks. On Monday, Iranian media reported that Tehran had suspended communications with Washington following Israeli strikes in Lebanon. However, President Donald Trump said negotiations remain underway and that Iran has not formally notified Washington of any decision to halt the dialogue.

The situation was further clouded by conflicting accounts from President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding a recent phone call about the Lebanon conflict. At the same time, Lebanese authorities urged that any extension of the ceasefire agreement between Hezbollah and Tel Aviv apply to all Lebanese territory, highlighting the complexity of efforts to de-escalate regional tensions.
