US Job Quits Fall in April

The number of job quits in the US declined to 2.977 million in April 2026, down from a downwardly revised 3.160 million in March and below the 3.144 million recorded a year earlier. This was the lowest level since mid-2020. The quits rate ticked down to 1.9% from 2.0%, also the lowest since 2020, indicating that fewer workers are voluntarily leaving their positions.

Regionally, quits declined across most of the country, including the Northeast (-94,000), Midwest (-57,000), and South (-37,000), while the West posted a slight increase of 5,000.
