Slovakia Construction Output Growth Eases

Slovakia’s construction output increased by 13.2% year-on-year in April 2026, slowing from the record 29.9% expansion registered in March. Domestic construction activity also moderated, rising 17.7% after a 32.8% surge in the previous month, as growth was dampened by weaker performance in several segments: construction of buildings (18% vs 40.6% in March), new construction and reconstruction (20.4% vs 33.8%), and repairs and maintenance (13.2% vs 29%).

Meanwhile, construction activity abroad contracted sharply, falling 14.9% after an 11.4% increase in March. In contrast, civil engineering works strengthened, with activity rising 17.1% compared with 15.3% a month earlier. On a seasonally adjusted basis, overall construction output declined by 6.7% month-on-month in April. Over the January–April period, construction production was up 13% compared with the same period a year earlier.
