Japan Inflation Rate Inches Up to 1.5%

Japan’s annual inflation rate inched up to 1.5% in May 2026 from 1.4% in April. Core inflation held steady at 1.4%, remaining below the central bank’s 2% target for the fourth straight month. On a month-on-month basis, consumer prices rose 0.4%, accelerating from a 0.1% increase in April.
