Belgium Producer Inflation Accelerates

Belgium’s producer prices rose by 9.7% year-on-year in May 2026, up from 8.7% in April, marking the strongest increase since January 2023. Price growth accelerated in both the domestic and foreign markets, with domestic producer prices advancing to 9.1% from 8.2% and foreign producer prices climbing to 11.3% from 9.7%.

By sector, manufacturing recorded the sharpest increase, with prices up 10.3% after a 9.3% gain in the previous month. Price growth in mining and quarrying picked up to 1.9% from 0.6%. Inflation in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply sector inched higher, to 4.3% from 4.2%, while inflation for water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities held steady at 4.2% for the third consecutive month.

On a monthly basis, producer prices rose 1.1% in May, slowing from a 1.6% increase in April. Excluding energy, producer price inflation accelerated slightly, to 1.9% from 1.7%.
