In the first quarter of 2026, Austria posted a current account surplus of €7.33 billion, its highest level in two years and up from €6.62 billion in the same period a year earlier. The services surplus expanded to €5.82 billion, compared with €5.41 billion in Q1 2025, while the goods surplus increased to €1.81 billion from €1.12 billion. By contrast, the primary income surplus narrowed to €0.65 billion from €0.93 billion, and the secondary income deficit widened to €0.94 billion from €0.84 billion a year earlier.
