Irish Jobless Rate at 3-Month High

Ireland’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose to 5.0% in June 2026, up from a revised 4.9% in May and 4.6% a year earlier, reaching its highest level since March. The total number of unemployed persons increased by 3,100 to 145,100.

By gender, the unemployment rate for women inched up to 5.4% from 5.3% in May, with the number of unemployed women rising by 900 to 73,800. Among men, the rate also ticked up, from 4.5% to 4.6%, as the number of unemployed men grew by 2,200 to 71,200.

Looking at age groups, the youth unemployment rate (ages 15–24) climbed to 10.8% from 9.9% in May. For those aged 25–74, the unemployment rate stood at 4.2%.
