German Wholesale Price Inflation Cools to 4.9% in June, Extending Disinflation Trend

Germany’s wholesale price inflation eased further in June 2026, signaling a continued moderation in upstream price pressures for Europe’s largest economy.

According to the latest data updated on 14 July 2026, the German Wholesale Price Index (WPI) rose 4.9% year-over-year in June, down from a 5.9% annual increase recorded in May 2026. Both figures compare prices in each respective month to the same month a year earlier.

The slowdown from May to June suggests that cost pressures at the wholesale level are gradually receding, which could, over time, feed through into more moderate consumer price inflation, provided the trend persists in the coming months.
