The Baltic Dry Index climbed 1.7% to 2,715 on Wednesday, marking its first increase since July 14. The capesize index, which tracks vessels typically carrying 150,000-ton cargoes such as iron ore and coal, jumped 4.7% to 4,114, its highest level since July 16. In contrast, the panamax index, reflecting ships that usually transport 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, declined 2.8% to 2,120, its lowest reading since June 29. The supramax index also edged down, slipping 0.9% to 1,715.
