Qatar’s Total Credit Growth Cools Sharply in June on Annual Basis

Qatar’s total credit growth decelerated markedly in June 2026, with the year-over-year change easing to 0.40%, down from 1.60% in May 2026. The latest figures, updated on 23 July 2026, highlight a significant loss of momentum in credit expansion compared with the same period a year earlier.

On a year-over-year comparison, the “actual” June reading of 0.40% reflects how much total credit has grown relative to June of the previous year, while the “previous” May reading of 1.60% was measured against May a year earlier. The sharp slowdown suggests that overall borrowing and lending activity in the Qatari economy is expanding at a much more subdued pace as mid-2026 progresses.
