UK Asking Prices Ease Again as Rightmove Index Slips 0.4% in July

The latest Rightmove House Price Index shows UK asking prices continued to soften in July 2026, with the indicator registering a year-over-year decline of 0.4%. The reading, updated on 19 July 2026, follows a 0.5% annual drop recorded in June 2026, underscoring ongoing pressure on seller pricing.

Both the June and July figures are calculated on a year-over-year basis, comparing each month’s average asking prices to the same month a year earlier. While the July print of -0.4% marks a marginal improvement on June’s -0.5%, it still signals a modest annual contraction in advertised prices across the UK housing market.

The data suggests that, although the pace of decline has slightly moderated between June and July, sellers are still having to temper their price expectations compared with a year ago. Market participants will be watching upcoming releases closely to gauge whether this easing trend in asking prices stabilises or deepens over the coming months.
