US House Prices Rise More than Expected in May: FHFA

US single-family home prices backed by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac rose 0.3% in May 2026, rebounding from a 0.1% decline in April and surpassing market expectations for a 0.2% gain. Across the nine US census divisions, seasonally adjusted monthly price changes ranged from a 0.6% decrease in the Pacific division to a 1.4% increase in the East South Central division. On an annual basis, home prices were up 2.2% in May, following a 2.0% increase in April. Twelve-month price changes spanned from a 0.3% decline in the Pacific division to a 4.5% rise in the Middle Atlantic division.
