The Baltic Dry Index declined 1.2% to 2,632 on Wednesday, its lowest level in four weeks. The Capesize index, which tracks vessels that typically transport 150,000-ton cargoes such as iron ore and coal, fell 1.8% to 4,067, the weakest reading since July 21. The Supramax index also slipped 1.2% to 1,628, its lowest level since June 10. In contrast, the Panamax index, which reflects rates for ships that usually carry 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, edged up 0.4% to 1,995.
