Hungary’s gross domestic product grew by 1.7% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2026, matching the pace recorded in the previous three-month period, according to preliminary estimates. Although this figure came in below market expectations of 1.9%, it still represents the strongest expansion since the second quarter of 2024. Growth was driven primarily by the services sector, particularly professional, scientific, technical, and administrative activities, while the industrial sector also continued to support overall economic performance. On a seasonally adjusted quarter-on-quarter basis, GDP increased by 0.4% in Q2 2026, moderating from a 0.8% rise in the preceding quarter.
