Czech Economy Gains Traction as Q2 2026 GDP Growth Doubles to 0.4% QoQ

The Czech Republic’s economic momentum strengthened in the second quarter of 2026, with gross domestic product (GDP) expanding by 0.4% quarter-on-quarter. This marks an acceleration from the 0.2% quarter-on-quarter growth recorded in the first quarter of 2026.

The latest figures, updated on 30 July 2026, show that the pace of growth has effectively doubled compared with the previous three-month period. The “actual” comparison reflects the change in GDP from the second quarter to the first quarter of 2026, while the “previous” figure measured the change from the first quarter of 2026 to the quarter before it.

The improvement suggests a gradual firming of economic activity, with Q2’s stronger print building on the modest expansion seen at the start of the year. Investors and policymakers are likely to view the data as a sign that the Czech economy is slowly gaining traction after a period of weaker quarterly growth.
