US Natural Gas Stocks Rise Less Than Expected

US energy companies injected 28 billion cubic feet (bcf) of natural gas into storage in the week ended July 24, 2026, falling short of market expectations for a 35 bcf build, according to data from the EIA. Total working gas in storage increased to 3.084 trillion cubic feet. Inventories stood 1% below the level recorded a year earlier but were still 6.4% above the five-year seasonal average, indicating relatively comfortable supply conditions. The latest injection followed a 32 bcf build in the prior week ended July 17.
