Sensex Falls for 2nd Day

India’s BSE Sensex closed about 0.2% lower at 77,966 on Wednesday, extending losses for a second consecutive session. Investor caution ahead of key inflation data releases in both India and the US was compounded by rising US–Iran tensions and ongoing uncertainty surrounding the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, factors that continued to support elevated crude oil prices.

Despite this, foreign portfolio inflows remained resilient. On the downside, Tata Group stocks were among the major laggards, with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) sliding 3.7% and exerting significant downward pressure on the benchmark index.
