DAX Extends Gains

The DAX 40 extended its early advance on Wednesday, climbing 0.5% to a new record above 26,500 and logging a fifth consecutive session of gains. Investors assessed a mix of economic data, developments in the Middle East, and a fresh batch of corporate results. In the US, the latest figures showed headline inflation easing in line with forecasts to 3.4% year-on-year in July, while core inflation edged down to 2.5% from 2.6%, helping to cool expectations of further Federal Reserve rate hikes. Technology shares led the move higher, with Infineon Technologies up 3.8% after surprisingly strong earnings from US peers CoreWeave and Super Micro Computer. Industrial stocks also posted solid gains, driven by Rheinmetall, which added 4.5%. Siemens Energy climbed 4%, supported by an improved outlook from wind turbine manufacturer Vestas.
