Canada Wholesale Sales Rise Most in 3 Years

Wholesale sales in Canada, excluding petroleum and hydrocarbon products, rose by 2.8% in June 2026 compared with the previous month. This was slightly above the preliminary estimate of 2.7% and marked the strongest monthly gain since May 2023.

Machinery sales increased by 4.8% to C$20.1 billion, led by a 25.9% surge in farm, lawn, and gardening machinery and equipment, which climbed to C$3.1 billion. Sales also advanced notably in the food, beverage, and tobacco segment, up 2.8% to C$16.4 billion.

Wholesale inventories, excluding hydrocarbons, grew by 1.2% to C$140.4 billion.
