The Baltic Dry Index rose 0.7% to 2,863 on Friday, snapping a four-session losing streak. The Capesize index, which typically tracks vessels carrying 150,000-ton cargoes such as iron ore and coal, climbed 1.5% to 4,538. The Supramax index also advanced, gaining 0.6% to 1,622, its highest level since July 28. By contrast, the Panamax index, which reflects ships that usually carry 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, fell 1.5% to 2,228. For the week as a whole, the Baltic Dry Index declined 7.3%.
