China Stocks Gain as Economic Data Looms

The Shanghai Composite edged up 0.2% to around 3,937 on Monday, while the Shenzhen Component advanced 0.4% to 14,409, as investors positioned themselves ahead of a busy week of economic releases. Markets are awaiting a slate of key indicators — including fixed-asset investment, industrial production, retail sales, the unemployment rate, housing prices, and foreign direct investment — for fresh insight into the strength of China’s economic recovery.

In corporate news, Hygon Information Technology gained 1.4% after posting stronger revenue, net profit, and R&D expenditure. Other notable gainers included BYD (+0.8%), NAURA Technology (+1.1%), and Suzhou Dongshan Precision (+2.5%). On the downside, Kweichow Moutai slid 3.9% after reporting a decline in first-half net profit. Investors also looked ahead to GigaDevice Semiconductor’s earnings report on Tuesday for further signals on demand trends in the semiconductor sector.
