Sensex Snaps 4-Day Losing Run

India’s BSE Sensex closed about 0.8% higher at 77,537.7 on Thursday, snapping a four-day losing streak, supported by gains in financial and IT stocks. Sentiment improved as pressure on global bond yields eased following an unexpected intervention by the US Treasury, even as oil prices remained elevated and geopolitical risks persisted. Foreign investors also extended their buying streak on Wednesday, with provisional data indicating net purchases of 4.1 billion rupees, marking their third net buying session in four. Most index constituents advanced, led by Eternal (up 2.3%), Kotak Mahindra Bank (1.7%), ITC (1.6%), Bajaj Finance (1.5%), Axis Bank (1.5%), UltraTech Cement (1.2%) and Infosys (1.2%). In contrast, Tata Steel (-0.4%), IndiGo (-0.2%) and HCL Tech (-0.2%) were the only decliners.
