China Factory Activity Growth Beats Forecasts

The RatingDog China Manufacturing PMI rose to 51.5 in August 2026, up from July’s four-month low of 50.9 and above market expectations of 51. The improvement reflected stronger gains in both output and new orders.

New orders increased for the fifteenth consecutive month—the longest uninterrupted expansion since 2018—bolstered by the fastest growth in foreign sales in six months. Output expanded for the ninth month in a row, with August’s rise marking the strongest increase in three months.

Employment was unchanged after two consecutive months of growth, while backlogs of work increased for the seventh straight month, registering their fastest rise since March.
