Mexico Consumer Confidence Hits One-Year High

Mexico’s consumer confidence index rose by 1.0 point to 46.1 in August 2026 compared with July, reaching its highest level in a year, though it remained in negative territory. All five components improved on a monthly basis. The largest gain was in households’ assessment of their current economic situation, which increased by 1.9 points to 53.9. Expectations for households’ economic situation over the next 12 months climbed 1.6 points to 58.9, while views on the country’s current economic situation advanced 0.7 point to 40.1. Expectations for the country’s economic situation edged up by 0.1 point to 45.8. Meanwhile, households’ willingness to purchase durable goods, such as furniture and appliances, rose by 1.1 points to 32.5. On an annual basis, consumer confidence was virtually unchanged.
