France Forex Reserves Hit 3-Month High

France’s official reserve assets rose to €380.69 billion at the end of August 2026, up from €357.05 billion in July, reaching their highest level since May. This increase was driven primarily by a surge in gold reserves, which expanded by €24.37 billion to €301.16 billion. By contrast, France’s claims on the IMF edged down to €39.23 billion from €39.42 billion, and foreign currency reserves declined to €33.91 billion from €34.37 billion. Other reserve assets also decreased slightly, to €6.39 billion from €6.46 billion. A year earlier, in August 2025, total reserve assets amounted to €304.80 billion.
