US Consumer Credit Rises in July

Total U.S. consumer credit increased by $18.06 billion in July 2026, up from a $14.55 billion gain in June and surpassing expectations for an $11.7 billion rise. Revolving credit, which primarily reflects credit card borrowing, climbed by $2.80 billion, indicating stronger short-term consumer lending activity. Nonrevolving credit, which includes auto and student loans, advanced by $15.26 billion.
