Sensex Closes at 3-Month Low

India’s BSE Sensex extended its early losses to finish about 1.1% lower at 74,764 on Wednesday, its weakest close since June and the third consecutive session of declines. Escalating tensions between the US and Iran in the Persian Gulf heightened worries over global energy supplies, driving oil prices higher and stoking inflation fears. Persistent foreign fund outflows further dampened investor sentiment. Selling was broad-based and led by IT stocks, while metal shares outperformed the market. Among major IT names, HCLTech, Infosys, Tech Mahindra, and TCS fell between 2% and 4.6%.
