Kazakhstan Industrial Output Picks Up

Kazakhstan’s industrial production rose by 1% year-on-year in August 2026, accelerating from a six-month low of 0.1% in July. The contraction in mining and quarrying eased (-3.9% vs. -7.1% in July), while manufacturing output maintained steady growth at 4.2%.

In contrast, growth in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and air conditioning slowed (13.3% vs. 22.7%), as did activity in water supply, waste collection and treatment, and pollution abatement (6.9% vs. 7.8%).

Industrial output increased in sixteen regions of the country, while declines were recorded in the Akmola, Atyrau, Batys Kazakhstan, and Shygys Kazakhstan regions.

On a monthly basis, industrial production jumped 14%, rebounding sharply from a 6.1% decline in July and marking its strongest performance since March.
